Scott, Crist Locked in Tight Florida Governor's Race

Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott trails his Democratic challenger by 3 percentage points in the latest poll numbers ahead of the November election.

According to Public Policy Polling, Scott has 39 percent of the voters' support to Charlie Crist's 42 percent. Libertarian Adrian Wyllie has 8 percent.

Scott, who became Florida's 45th governor in 2011, holds a 40 percent approval rating in the poll results. Crist, however, has a favorability rating of just 40 percent.

Also on the November ballot in Florida will be a medical marijuana bill. Sixty-one percent of voters polled said they would support it, but that figure is down from 66 percent in June and 65 percent in January.

The bill needs at least 60 percent of the vote in order to become a law.

In the 2016 race for the White House, Democrat Hillary Clinton leads every potential GOP candidate. Former Gov. Jeb Bush is her closest competitor, with Clinton leading him 46 to 44 percent. Clinton has at least a 7-point lead over the other Republicans — Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (49-42), New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (46-38), Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (48-40), former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (49-40), and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (51-36).

Only 32 percent of those polled want Rubio to run, while 31 percent want Bush in the race. Fifty-three percent of the voters are opposed to each of them running for president.
