Florida Gov. Rick Scott said Tuesday that he was "not interested" in being a vice presidential candidate after Republican front-runner Donald Trump mentioned Scott and two other governors as possible running mates.

"I’ve got a great job now," Scott, 63, who is in his second term, told McClatchy. "My focus is on how do I make Florida the No. 1 state to get a job.

"I’m not interested in ... vice president," he reiterated when pressed further. "I’m interested in being the governor."

Trump mentioned Scott, as well current rival and Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former challenger and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, as possible partners in an interview with The New York Times.

"What I’ve said is that we need to rally behind Donald Trump," Scott said. "He’s going to be our nominee."
