Republican National Committee head Ronna McDaniel on Sunday blasted Democrats' "rhetoric" as "over the top" in the national debate over healthcare reform.
In an appearance on NBC News' "Meet The Press" alongside of Democratic National Committee chair Tom Perez, the debate turned fiery on the topic of Obamacare, and GOP efforts to repeal and replace it.
"With all due respect, when Tom’s saying Republicans don’t give a blank about anyone, when he goes around and says that about the other party, I know Democrats care about other people," the frustrated McDaniel said.
"We just have a difference of opinion on the path to get there, but that type of rhetoric doesn’t bring people to our party. We have to have reasonable discussions. Have a dialogue, be respectful of each other. But, share our opinions of what the best path is to get to the same place we both want to go, which is a better life for our kids, for our grandkids."
"People will die if the Affordable Care Act…" Perez began one argument, to which McDaniel jumped in to reply: "And that rhetoric's over the top again."
When he finished the sentenced to say, "is repealed," McDaniel groused, "Rhetoric over the top."
Earlier, McDaniel said the parties do share "common values."
"The Republican party is not the party for the wealthy. We care about everyone," she said. "I think there is a different way to get to those things. I just disagree with their path. I don’t think bigger government is the way to get things better."
