House Speaker Paul Ryan and Donald Trump had an "extremely positive" meeting Thursday that marked "a very encouraging day for the party," Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said.

"There was a lot of agreement on most issues," Priebus told Wolf Blitzer on CNN. "That's why it was a positive meeting.

"It's a person starting to move into general-election mode and really working hard at being someone that can unify the party and also going after Hillary Clinton.

"I don't think we have to worry about Donald Trump pulling any punches against Hillary Clinton," Priebus said.

Ryan and Trump reportedly met for about two hours — and the Wisconsin Republican said afterward that he was "very encouraged with this meeting."

Priebus declined to disclose what Trump and Ryan discussed, only saying that "there was a lot of agreement on almost all things that were discussed.

"But they are going to continue talking and it was a cooperative, good-spirited meeting with good chemistry," Priebus said. "I can just tell you I don't think it could have turned out any better."
