Clinton Campaign Manager: Russians Behind Leaked DNC Emails

Hillary Clinton's campaign manager Sunday suggested Russian hackers were behind the leak of Democratic National Committee emails critical of Sen. Bernie Sanders to help Donald Trump win in November.

In an interview on CNN's "State of the Union," Robby Mook said he'd heard the assessment from "experts."

"I think we need to get to the bottom of these facts," he said. "Experts have said it was the Russians that went in and took these e-mails and then if they are the ones who took them we have to infer that they are the ones, then releasing them."

"I don't think it's coincidental that these emails were released on the eve of our convention here, and I think that's disturbing," he said.

The DNC has previously had its files hacked by an individual named "Guccifer 2.0" that may have had ties to the Russians.

Mooks said he also was "concerned that we also saw last week at the Republican convention that Trump and his allies made changes to the Republican platform to make it more pro Russian, and we saw him talking about how NATO shouldn't necessarily intervene to defend our eastern European allies if they are attacked by Russia."

"If you put all this together it's a disturbing picture and I think voters need to reflect on that," he said.

Following his interview, CNN reported that DNC Debbie Wasserman Schultz would not have a speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention to begin Monday.
