The search warrant used for the raid on former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort's home last summer indicated investigators are focusing on his actions before and during his time on the campaign.
CNN cited the documents, which were made public in a Monday evening court filing, as saying special counsel Robert Mueller's team is probing whether Russian nationals may have contributed to the Trump campaign, either directly or indirectly. Mueller's investigators are looking at Manafort's relationship with a Russian real estate magnate, according to the report.
Manafort is also under investigation for foreign lobbying and tax evasion related to his international political consulting business.
During the Manafort raid, FBI agents collected electronics, documents, and even took pictures of Manafort's expensive suits hanging in his closet.
FBI agents raided two offices, a home, and a hotel room linked to Michael Cohen, the personal attorney of President Donald Trump, on Monday. The raids were conducted through the U.S. attorney in New York, but Mueller is allowed to access the evidence taken from the scenes.
The Cohen raids were likely in regards to a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. Daniels claims she had a brief affair with Trump in 2006 and has argued that the nondisclosure agreement she signed with Cohen is invalid, which would allow her to tell her alleged story.
Mueller's team is looking at whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia. Trump has denied that any collusion occurred. He blasted the Cohen raid Monday evening and again Tuesday morning.
