Mississippi voters Tuesday sent GOP Sen. Roger Wicker back to Washington for a third term in the upper chamber.
Currently a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, the former Air Force veteran defeated Democratic opponent David Baria, as well as challenges from Libertarian candidate Danny Bedwell and Reform Party candidate Sean O’Hara.
Wicker, who also chairs the Senate’s subcommittee on seapower, is an advocate for a 355-ship Naval fleet; there are currently 279 ships in the fleet, WLOX reported.
Wicker has represented the deep red state in the Senate since 2007.
