Rep. Steve Stivers believes the Senate bid by Mitt Romney will help boost Rep. Mia Love's re-election chances, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Friday.
"I feel very confident that Mia will win her race," Stivers, an Ohio congressman and chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, told the newspaper.
"She’s got a tough competitor. Her Democrat[ic opponent Ben McAdams] is no slouch, but she’s got Mitt Romney, who will likely be in the Senate race — I expect him to win that primary — and help her turnout."
Love is seeking a third term in the House as a representative for Utah's 4th congressional district and Republicans believe Romney leading the ticket could recruit more GOP votes, the Tribune says. Romney, a former Massachusetts governor and two-time GOP presidential candidate, faces a June primary against Rep. Michael Kennedy.
