Items that are not in the budget deal to avoid a government shutdown are "troubling," according to Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., in a Monday interview on "Fox & Friends."
Host Steve Doocy pointed out that the budget does not include money for a border wall or a deportation force, and it does not cut funding to sanctuary cities if they do not obey immigration enforcement. The budget proposal also does not include cuts to Planned Parenthood.
"The points you suggest are troubling, and suggests that a lot of it is same old, same old," DeSantis said.
The Florida congressman also noted that the legislation is 1,600 pages long and a vote is set to for this Wednesday. "Good luck reading all of that," DeSantis said.
"I think the question that a lot of voters have is, OK, you had Obama and you say you can't do things because of Obama. Now we have unified Republican control. How is this materially different from what's been going on?" the congressman said.
"People want the wall, and I think Congress needs to deliver on the wall," the congressman said, regarding items not funded in the budget.
On Thursday, DeSantis, the chairman of the U.S. House National Security Subcommittee, endorsed a border wall, according to Sunshine State News. He pointed out the success Israel has had, with a 99 percent decrease in illegal entries on the Israel-Sinai border after a border wall was constructed.
