Former Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel has joined NBC News as an on-air political contributor, the network announced Friday.
McDaniel's first appearance will be Sunday on "Meet The Press," her first interview since stepping down as leader of the RNC earlier this month. She will also make appearances on MSNBC, the network's sister cable channel.
"It couldn't be a more important moment to have a voice like Ronna's on the team," NBC News' Carrie Budoff Brown, who oversees the network's political coverage, wrote in a memo obtained by The New York Times.
Brown added that McDaniel would provide "an insider's perspective on national politics and the future of the Republican Party." McDaniel will also be involved in the coverage of the 2024 campaign, including election nights.
McDaniel will be another conservative voice on NBC News, joining Marc Short and Brendan Buck, a former top aide to Paul Ryan. Short served as chief of staff to former Vice President Mike Pence.
McDaniel announced her resignation as RNC chair in late February, stepping aside at the RNC's spring meeting March 8 in Houston. The membership that day elected Michael Whatley as chair and Lara Trump, former President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, as co-chair.
