Expressing confidence the Republican National Convention will be hosted in late August, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told Newsmax TV that Joe Biden is hamstrung more by the global coronavirus pandemic.
"We have the infrastructure built," McDaniel told Thursday's "Spicer and Co." "The Democrats, with the DNC's lack of fundraising or having a nominee, has not been able to put that infrastructure in place. So, this is only delaying them further."
What is worse, though, according to McDaniel, is Biden's politicization of the public health crisis with is own coronavirus briefings.
"I think more than anything, Biden's being hurt by trying to do counter programming against our president in a time of crisis and being political in a time we should all be united," she told host Sean Spicer.
Democrats also have a time crunch the GOP does not face, having scheduled its convention for mid-July (13-16) and facing the possibility of having to conduct it online instead of in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, the RNC is Aug. 24-27 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
"Right now we're not making any plans to cancel our convention," McDaniel said. "We're full steam head toward Charlotte and renominating President Donald Trump and Vice President [Mike] Pence.
"We're well ahead of the game, so this stop right now is not impacting the overall planning heading into August. I don't think the DNC was in the same shape with Milwaukee as we are with Charlotte."
McDaniel did admit the convention cities would take yet another economic hit if they cannot be held in person and had to go virtual.
"It's such a boost for their economies," McDaniel said.
"We're running and gunning," she added. "I imagine if we had to cancel there would be huge problems across the board for both cities."
