The sibling of embattled Senate candidate Roy Moore on Friday told CNN that his brother is being persecuted "like Jesus Christ was."
Jerry Moore spoke to CNN reporter Martin Savidge by phone Friday, saying that the allegations being lobbed at his brother, a former state Supreme Court judge, are "not true at all."
CNN's Savidge reported Jerry Moore as saying that the four women quoted by name in The Washington Post report will "have to answer to God for these false allegations."
"When I asked what does he believe the motivation is with these women coming forward making the accusations they have, again, Jerry Moore says it's money and the Democratic Party, implying that they are doing this because they're being paid in some way, and it is for the purpose of derailing or interrupting this campaign," Savidge said during an interview on CNN.
Reactions to the Post report that Moore pursued sexual relations with teenaged girls — and fondled a 14-year-old — nearly 40 years ago have been polarizing.
Republicans on Capitol Hill have immediately distanced themselves from Moore, calling for him to step down, but some saying only if the allegations are true, which Moore has fervently denounced as "fake news."
Alabama Republicans have ardently defended Moore, even if the allegations are true, one citing the age discrepancy between Joseph and Mary, the parents of Jesus Christ.
Moore faces a special election on Dec. 12 against Democrat Doug Jones to fill the Senate seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
