U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday that the Israeli Knesset's move toward the annexation of West Bank would threaten President Donald Trump's plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
In a setback for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, right-wing lawmakers on Wednesday advanced two annexation bills — one applying Israeli sovereignty to all West Bank settlements and another targeting a key city-settlement.
Both measures passed their preliminary readings despite opposition from Netanyahu and most members of his Likud party, who argued the timing was premature.
