President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani called Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., a "fraud and coward" in a tweet for saying a recent surge in anti-Semitism is "being stoked" by them.

"Not only have I condemned anti-Semitism early & often, I threw Arafat out of UN concert, prosecuted 2 Nazi War criminals, & went to Israel to help after bombings," Giuliani wrote. "Meanwhile, Swalwell, doesn't have the guts to condemn the anti-Semites in his own party – a fraud & COWARD!"

Swalwell tweeted:

"Anti-Semitism is on the rise in America. And it's being stoked by @realDonaldTrump, who won't condemn it and Trump's lawyer, @RudyGiuliani, who just this week said he's 'more Jewish than Soros.'"

Swalwell had written that Giuliani is among those who "have relentlessly attacked Jewish philanthropists, including Michael Bloomberg and George Soros," according to BPR.

Swalwell cited a recent New York magazine interview in which Giuliani claimed former Amb. Marie Yovanovitch is "controlled" by Soros, saying "Don't tell me I'm anti-Semitic if I oppose him. Soros is hardly a Jew. I'm more of a Jew than Soros is."

Giuliani, a former New York City mayor,  also lashed out at current Mayor Bill de Blasio, writing on Twitter, he "has watched anti-Semitism rapidly metastasize, like a cancer, & is too unconcerned or lazy to 'nip it in the bud.'"

The attack on the mayor came after de Blasio told Fox News, "An atmosphere of hate has been developing in this country over the last few years. A lot of it's emanating from Washington, and it's having an effect on all of us," emphasizing "we need a different tone starting in Washington."
