Whether sensing danger or just not taking any chances, House Speaker Paul Ryan is throwing his weight into the Georgia congressional race to replace the seat vacated by Health and Human Services head Tom Price, The Washington Post reported.

Without endorsing a particular GOP candidate, Ryan recorded a general "get out the vote" robocall to Republican voters in Georgia's 6th district.

Democrats are hoping to pick up a seat in the House running on an anti-Trump message; a similar race in GOP stronghold Kansas to replace CIA Director Mike Pompeo's seat was too close for comfort for Republicans.

Ryan has been a cash machine for the National Republican Congressional Committee, having recently kicked in $16.4 million to help GOP candidates across the country.

The NRCC has already spent $2 million in the Georgia race, the Post reported.

President Donald Trump won Georgia by 5 points and Kansas by 19 points over Hillary Clinton in the presidential election.
