President Donald Trump's decision to fire acting attorney general Sally Yates Monday was "tyrannical," the Democratic National Committee said in a statement.
Trump fired Yates after she refused to defend his immigration directive that stops people from traveling to the United States via countries with ties to terrorism. The DNC responded by ripping the move.
Todd Ruger of Roll Call posted the DNC's statement on his Twitter feed:
Last Friday, Trump signed an executive order that prevents people from coming to the U.S. from seven countries: Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. Protests erupted over the weekend and continued Monday across the country, including on the steps of the Supreme Court.
