Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., called for the removal of President Trump's adviser Steve Bannon from the National Security Council.

In comments posted on Twitter, Sanders said Bannon is dangerous and must be ousted from the NSC.

Trump signed a memo on Saturday restructuring the NSC to include Bannon, the chief strategist in the White House.

Former National Security Adviser Susan Rice called the move "stone cold crazy," according to The Hill.

But White House spokesman Sean Spicer defended the move saying Bannon was previously an officer in the Navy.

The New York Times noted Bannon's "stated preference for blowing things up — as opposed to putting them back together — may not translate to his new role."
