Palin: US 'Ready' for More Women Presidential Candidates

By    |   Tuesday, 25 March 2014 07:13 AM EDT

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told Mario Lopez of Extra TV that she "would like to see women run for that higher office" in response to his question, "What are your thoughts on Hillary Clinton?"

Palin added, "I think America certainly is ready for more female candidates at that upper echelon," Breitbart reported.

Palin was on Extra TV to promote her forthcoming television program "Amazing America With Sarah Palin" scheduled to premiere at 8 p.m. EDT on April 3 on the Sportsman Channel.

In September, she told Fox News Channel that she would be disappointed if Clinton became a serious candidate in 2016 because of her handling, as secretary of state, of the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya.

"If [Benghazi] doesn't have an impact on the 2016 presidential election, if she is a candidate, then America, I am very disappointed in our electorate."

Palin said that "anyone who would just throw away 200 years of military ethos and leave our men behind to be murdered" should "never be considered as a commander in chief."
