House Minority Whip Steve Scalise and Rep. Jim Jordan, appearing together on television Tuesday, slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for calling President Donald Trump and his allies in Congress "domestic enemies to our voting system."

"There's no place for that hypercharged language she uses, enemies of the state and all of this," Scalise, R-La., said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "That’s the hypercharged language that led a gunman trying to kill every Republican on the ballfield. Why don’t we talk about issues? They don’t want to talk about issues."

Scalise spent several months hospitalized after he was shot in 2017 while he was practicing with other Republicans for a charity baseball game. Both lawmakers spoke for the Republican National Convention Monday.

Jordan, R-Ohio, also accused Democrats of wanting mail-in ballots so they can cause "confusion" because they know President Donald Trump will win in November, and Pelosi's comments about the U.S. Postal Service do not "help things, [they] only hurt things."

"They want to keep counting just like they did in New Jersey four weeks after their primary election,” Jordan said. "Imagine if it takes six weeks to figure out who won one congressional primary. Now they’re talking about live ballots being mailed out to everyone and then counting ballots."

On Monday, Pelosi told MSNBC that Trump is acting in an unconstitutional way over the upcoming election and accused him of scaring potential voters while welcoming Russia to interfere.

"The Russians were there and they are there now 24/7 trying to interfere in our election, but they're not the only ones," Pelosi said. "Sadly, the domestic enemies to our voting system and our honoring of the Constitution are right at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with their allies in the Congress of the United States."

Scalise said that in Louisiana, an election commissioner was sent to jail for breaking laws on voter fraud, so the offense does happen.

"If you mail millions of ballots to people who aren’t even legally on the rolls, that’s what would happen," he said. "You ask any secretary of state. Everyone one of them has about 10% or more of people on their voting rolls that aren’t properly registered, whether they moved or something else."
