Just as the polls suggested President Donald Trump would not win the 2016 election, the truth lies beneath the noise: the "quiet majority" is still supporting the administration, former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said Sunday.
"There's a quiet, in my opinion, a quiet majority — or what [former President] Nixon used to call the 'silent majority' — that secretly want[s] President Trump to do so well," Scaramucci told "The Cats Rountable" on 970 AM-N.Y., per The Hill.
Like 2016, people are merely afraid to voice their support for the controversial and sometimes politically incorrect leader, Scaramucci added to host John Catsimatidis.
"What I find in a lot of the places that I go, people will pull me over and they'll whisper in my ear, 'Hey, I just want to let you know — I don't want to talk about this at my country club, I don't want to talk about this at my job — but I'm a huge Trump supporter,' and they start to explain why," Scaramucci said.
Scaramucci, who was fired as communications director in July 2017 after just about a week on the job, is releasing the book "Trump, the Blue-Collar President," due Oct. 23.
The book details Scaramucci longtime relationship with President Trump, which lasted after his firing, and delves into the economic successes of the administration in the face of Democratic resistance and obstructionism.
"There's a polemical, partisan struggle and a battle of ideologies right now about what the best policies are to help people and so you can definitely feel that," Scaramucci told Catsimatidis.
