The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee has suggested the reasons behind ex-National Security Adviser Mike Flynn's offer to testify about Russia in exchange for immunity will become clear when former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates testifies before the group.
In a Friday morning tweet, Rep. Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, said:
His prediction came just 90 minutes after President Donald Trump issued his own tweet on The Wall Street Journal's revelation that Flynn wants to cut a deal with the feds to any possible prosecution:
Flynn told the FBI and congressional officials investigating possible ties between Trump's presidential campaign and Russia that he is willing to be interviewed in exchange for immunity, the Journal said.
Flynn, who was an adviser to Trump's presidential campaign, was later named his national security adviser. But he was soon fired after confessing he had misled officials about his conversations with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. during the presidential transition.
