A Senate Democrat amped up the hate amid the George Floyd rioting and unrest, calling the president a "scum," claiming the president's tough talk to quell riots is "fueling racist hate and violence."
Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., is the perpetrator, via Twitter:
"Donald trump is scum for fueling racist hate and violence in our country."
Trump has been a target of frequent blame for many of the country's maladies. He has served just over three years in public office.
Markey, 73, has been in Congress since 1976, serving as a U.S. Representative until 2013, when he became a senator. Markey is on shaky ground in his re-election this November, facing a primary challenge from Rep. Joe Kennedy, D-Mass., who is popular and well-funded.
Markey's rebuke of Trump might have stemmed from reports of Trump's conference call with governors, where Trump reportedly called out some governors for being "weak" and failing to give the police the authority to "dominate" protesters.
