Senate Dems Plan to Push for Tax Returns for Cabinet Nominees

Senate Democrats are expected to announce their intentions to require three years of tax returns from Donald Trump's cabinet nominees as part of the confirmation hearings, The Washington Post reported.

Though Republicans in those committees have the numbers to quash the housekeeping rule, the move gives Democrats an opportunity to draw blood:

A vote for it bucks President-elect Donald Trump, who successfully thumbed his nose at demands to release his tax returns all the way to getting elected. A vote against it puts Republicans on the record for siding against the American people, a majority of who believe Trump should have released his returns.

Currently, just three Senate committees have the authority require returns — Budget, Finance, Homeland Security.
