Hannity: Moore Should Give Better Answers or Drop Out

(Fox News' "Hannity")

Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore should clear up his inconsistent stories about sexual misconduct allegations within 24 hours or drop out of the race, Fox News host Sean Hannity said Tuesday.

Hannity interviewed the Republican candidate about the allegations on his radio show Friday. He played excerpts of that interview Tuesday on his television show.

When Hannity first asked Moore if he dated girls as young as 17 when he was 32, Moore answered, "Not generally, no."

Pressed again by Hannity, Moore said, "I don't remember ever dating any girl without the permission of her mother. And I think, in her statement, she said that her mother encouraged her to go out with me."

On a third questioning, Moore stated unequivocally he never dated anyone in her teens.

After a new accuser came forward Monday, showing a high school yearbook he had autographed, Moore held a press conference saying, "I can tell you without hesitation this is absolutely false. I never did what she said I did. I don't even know the woman, I don't know anything about her."

But Hannity said he believes the handwriting in the yearbook matches Moore's, and he wrote "to a sweeter, more beautiful girl, I could not say merry Christmas."

That, Hannity said, does not match with Moore's denials of ever knowing her.

"For me, he has 24 hours," Hannity said. "You must remove any doubt. If you can't do this, then he needs to get out of this race. This country has way too many issues and problems."

Hannity has been a target of an attempted advertiser boycott since his interview with Moore, which the liberal Media Matters for America called sympathetic to Moore.
