One report refutes President-elect Donald Trump's claim shops in the Washington, D.C. area are running out of women's gowns for the inauguration because of high demand.

Trump told The New York Times on Monday morning: "We are going to have an unbelievable, perhaps record-setting turnout for the inauguration, and there will be plenty of movie and entertainment stars. All the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It's hard to find a great dress for this inauguration."

Dress shops in and around the nation's capital contacted by People, however, said they have plenty of dresses and demand is low.

"No, we're not sold out," D.C. Mae’s Dress Boutique owner Mae Shipe told People. "We have 200 dresses, if not more, in stock."

An employee of another shop said demand is not as high as expected for the inauguration.

"We have not gotten a huge influx of traffic specifically related to shopping for inaugural dresses," Anastasia Thomas of Betsy Fisher told the outlet.

An owner of another dress boutique in the D.C. area told People, "There's never been less demand for inaugural ballgowns in my 38 years."
