The leader of the Boy Scouts of America called Donald Trump and told him his recent speech was, "the greatest speech that was ever made to them," according to the comments the president made to The Wall Street Journal as published by Politico.
Trump said Michael Surbaugh told him the troops were, "very thankful."
The speech, which Trump gave in West Virginia at the annual Boy Scout Jamboree last Monday, received mixed reviews, with a CNN critic calling it cringe-worthy because of the political tone. Trump touched on healthcare, draining the swamp, and how massive the crowd was, among other talking points.

Surbaugh, though, apologized to those "who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree."
"It is in no way an endorsement of any person, party or policies," he added. "For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained non-partisan and refused to comment on political matters. We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program."
