Donald Trump's chief strategist Steve Bannon said the president-elect and his administration are going to "build an entirely new political movement" that will "govern for 50 years," The Hollywood Reporter reports.
"Like [Andrew] Jackson's populism, we're going to build an entirely new political movement," Bannon told THR's Michael Woolf. "It's everything related to jobs. … It will be as exciting as the 1930s, greater than the Reagan revolution — conservatives, plus populists, in an economic nationalist movement."
Bannon is credited with directing Trump's winning campaign strategy into the White House, taking it over in August amid alleged strife and mutiny. But Bannon predicted to THR that Trump would win the presidency by winning Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio.
Now that they're in the White House, he's making another prediction.
"The globalists gutted the American working class and created a middle class in Asia," Bannon told THR. "If we deliver we'll get 60 percent of the white vote, and 40 percent of the black and Hispanic vote and we'll govern for 50 years.
"That's what the Democrats missed, they were talking to these people with companies with a $9 billion market cap employing nine people. It's not reality. They lost sight of what the world is about."
Bannon has been a lightning rod for criticism directed at Trump for appointing a white nationalist in the White House, a notion Bannon mocked, according to THR.
"I'm not a white nationalist, I'm a nationalist. I'm an economic nationalist," Bannon said.
And he likes it when the enemy doesn't see him coming.
"Darkness is good," Bannon told THR. "Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That's power. It only helps us when they get it wrong. When they're blind to who we are and what we're doing."
