President Donald Trump has done more than merely tarnish his legacy, but he has taken down anyone who has supported him, according to former Trump economist Steve Moore.
"A tough week if you're a conservative Republican," Moore told Sunday's "The Cats Roundtable" on WABC 770 AM-N.Y.
"I am so distressed by what happened this week," Moore added to host John Catsimatidis. "I don't think anyone can defend the president's behavior and his actions this week. I am really, really worried that this is going to be used by the left, the people who hate Trump, to tarnish not just him personally, but No. 1 the people who supported him."
The "guilt by association" will damage Trump backers, after what was a presidency with a "spectacular economic record."
"Whether you like Trump or not, and nobody approves of his behavior this week, he did a great job for America and rebuilding the American engine of economic progress," Moore said.
The Dow Jones Industrials rose over 31,000 for the first time, but Moore calls this a stimulus and new administration sugar high.
"People on Wall Street are addicted to the idea of," Moore said, "free money and stimulus money," adding it will have "to be repaid at some point.
"I'm a little skeptical of this rally."
Moving forward with the Biden administration means a shaky future for American energy, Moore concluded.
"The one thing that I find is a constant among almost all of these appointees that troubles me a little bit is this obsession with climate change," Moore said of the Biden administration Cabinet. "I believe this is going to be a major push by the Biden administration, which poses some real risk to America's energy future, coal industry, our oil industry, our gas industry."
Moore added, "I do worry about whether we're going to play right into the hands of the Chinese," and "we may see higher gasoline prices in the months to come."
