Roger Stone to Newsmax TV: I've Had No Contact With Trump About Pardon

Political consultant and former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone told Newsmax TV on Thursday he has had no communication with the president nor promises of a pardon with less than two weeks before he is scheduled to report to federal prison for lying to Congress.

“I’ve had no direct communication, certainly no promises or assurances from the president,” Stone said on “Spicer & Co.”

“But at every instance in my case, from the day I was charged when 29 FBI agents stormed my home in the predawn hours – all clad in SWAT gear and carrying assault weapons, completely unnecessary, to the outrageousness of the bias by the judge in my case, the makeup of the jury, the conduct of the jury forewoman, who was a Trump hater, which we learned after the trial, the president has been supportive in his tweets.

“I, therefore, at the end of the day, I believe he understands that I have basically used all my legal remedies.”

Stone, 67, was convicted as a result of special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s investigation into a purported conspiracy between officials in President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russian government agents to influence the 2016 presidential election. Mueller’s investigation found no evidence of any conspiracy.

He was sentenced to 40 months in February, which was delayed last week until July 14 due to concerns over the novel coronavirus.

“I believe the president will do the right thing,” Stone said. “I pray for it. I haven’t been promised anything, but Donald Trump is a man of enormous justice, believes in fairness, and he has put it out again, and again, and again that I was not treated fairly in the process.”

Stone previously has said he was prosecuted for refusing to lie about Trump, and was persecuted for it

“I didn’t break the law in 2016. I haven’t broken the law since then," he said Thursday. "Let’s recognize that Mueller and his band of thugs gave me the full legal, proctological examination.

"They looked at three years of emails, phone calls, text messages, all the time they were leaked: Roger Stone will be charged with treason; Roger Stone will be charged with espionage; Roger Stone will be charged with conspiracy against the United States; wire fraud; mail fraud, money laundering; anything you want; the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. It doesn’t matter.”
