Stormy Daniels' Lawyer: One Place Threat Could Have Come From

(CNN's "New Day")

The lawyer for adult film star Stormy Daniels Monday claimed investigators are looking into who she says allegedly threatened her in a Las Vegas parking garage in 2011 to keep quiet about Donald Trump but said she does believe the Trump Organization was behind the alleged act.

"That's the only place they could have come from," her attorney, Michael Avenatti, told CNN's "New Day" co-host Alisyn Camerota about the alleged threat, made after she'd given a magazine interview.

"It not come from someone close to her. It didn't come from the magazine. There's only one other place it could have possibly come from."

Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, told CNN's Anderson Cooper on CBS' "60 Minutes" Sunday that the man, who she has not identified, met her in the garage, looked at her daughter, and said, "That's a beautiful little girl. It'd be a shame if something happened to her mom."

"Quite honestly, every mother in America can identify with the story that she just told and how frightening and terrifying that would be were they in her situation," Avenatti told CNN Monday.

"We are in the process of discovering, investigating exactly who that person was, and we are going to get to the bottom of it."

Brent Blakely, an attorney for Michael Cohen, President Trump's personal attorney, sent Daniels and Avenatti a cease and desist letter late Sunday after the interview aired, Fox News reported Monday, demanding that she not make "false and defamatory statements" about Cohen in the future. Cohen is also demanding an apology and a retraction.

Avenatti said Monday that Cohen needs to "come clean with the American public."

"He lied about the $130,000, that Donald Trump knew nothing of this agreement, that he advanced $130,000," said Avenatti. "It's laughable. It's not believable. Time for him to come on camera and sit down with you or others and answer hard questions."

He further told Camerota that his client's "60 Minutes" interview is "just the beginning."

"We have a whole host of evidence," he said. "This is not going away. Mr. Cohen and the president better come clean with the American people and they better do it quickly."
