A New York woman who said she was "heartbroken" following Tuesday's election ended up cheered when she met her candidate, Hillary Clinton, on a hiking trail in Chappaqua on Wednesday.
Margot Gerster posted a photo of herself and Clinton on Facebook, but the post is no longer publicly viewable. Mediaite managed to copy the photo and post, which was first reported by WTKR.
Gerster wrote that she decided to cheer herself up after Clinton's defeat in the presidential election to Donald Trump by taking her daughters hiking.
"We were the only ones there and it was so beautiful and relaxing," she wrote. "As we were leaving, I heard a bit of rustling coming towards me and as I stepped into the clearing there she was, Hillary Clinton and Bill with their dogs doing exactly the same thing as I was."
Gerster said she talked to Clinton about taking her daughter with her to vote for her as the first female presidential candidate for a major party.
Bill Clinton is not in the photo, but Gerster told CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront" that's because the former president took the picture.
It wasn't Gerster's first time snapping a photo with Clinton. Her current Facebook profile photo, posted on Election Day, is a photo of herself, Clinton and another young woman.
Asked by a Facebook friend when the photo was taken, Gerster said, "Back in high school... at a fundraiser my mom hosted at the Kittle House. She was the guest of honor."
