White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles is throwing cold water on the potential of a phone call between tech mogul Elon Musk and President Donald Trump.
"There are no plans for that today," Wiles told NBC News.
A senior White House official told NBC News said Trump was not interested in talking to Musk.
"There could be anything — I'd like to de-escalate a very unfortunate situation," the official told NBC News. "But there are no calls on the books, at least not now."
White House press secretary Karoline Levitt told reporters that Trump is focused on getting his "One Big Beautiful Bill" passed.
"That's the mindset he left the Oval Office in yesterday," Leavitt said.
On Friday, Trump told a reporter that Elon Musk "has lost his mind" and added he was "not particularly" interested in talking to the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.
"In a phone conversation this morning, @realDonaldTrump told me @elonmusk is 'the man who has lost his mind.' Trump did not, however, seem angry or even concerned about the feud," ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl posted on X.
In a story later posted on ABC News.com, Karl wrote that people close to Trump described the president as more sad than angry at Musk.
One Trump adviser said the president, on Thursday night, seemed "bummed" about the situation. Karl wrote he had the same take during the Friday morning phone call.
