Sen. Ted Cruz is criticizing the postponed GOP healthcare bill for failing to include issues that had "virtual unanimity," Townhall reported.

In remarks at a lunch hosted by the Federalist Society on Tuesday, the Texas Republican listed his top four priorities for the year: the repeal of Obamacare, regulatory and tax reform, and the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, Townhall reported.

Conceding the sidelined GOP healthcare legislation had a "rocky few days," Cruz said, however, he was baffled by the exclusion of issues that had wide support: getting rid of mandates, lowering premiums, allowing purchases across state lines.

And the bill was only public for 18 days, he said, which didn't signal a "final product," Townhall reported.

"Failure is not an option," he warned.

But on the nomination of Gorsuch and regulatory reform, he was more optimistic, predicting the Supreme Court nominee would be confirmed nest week.

As for removing barriers to business, he added: "This is a president who wants to be bold," Townhall reported.
