Sen. Ted Cruz issued a warning to the Texas Republican Party that the "stark-raving nuts" — Democrats — are going to turn out the vote for the midterms, The Texas Tribune reported.
"Let me tell you right now: The left is going to show up," Cruz said during a keynote address at a GOP event over the weekend, the Tribune reported. "They will crawl over broken glass in November to vote."
Further, Cruz is taking nothing for granted in his re-election bid against Democratic challenger Rep. Beto O'Rourke, who outraised Cruz during the final two quarters of 2017.
"It’s true my Democratic opponent is raising a lot of money," Cruz told the assembly, the Tribune reported. "We’re not going to take it for granted. That’s a manifestation of the energy on the extreme left."
Still, Cruz boasts more than $6.3 million in cash on hand.
Cruz said Democrats are "stark-raving nuts" in their opposition to President Donald Trump, evidenced by the many Democrats who sat on their hands during Trump's State of the Union address.
