A Democratic National Convention delegate from Texas reportedly was robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday morning, marking the latest in a series of armed robberies in the area, according to Chicago police, Breitbart reported.
The delegate became the victim of an armed robbery early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. near the Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel, where the delegate was staying, according to police.
The victim, accompanied by a female friend, was approached by a gunman who exited a black Range Rover. Moments earlier, the suspect allegedly robbed a 25-year-old man on the same block. The delegate and his friend complied with the demands of the armed assailant, who then fled the scene.
No injuries were reported.
Chicago police believe the robbery is linked to a string of similar incidents in the city that have taken place over the past few days.
