Tim Walz Accuses Trump of Advocating Child Labor at Laborfest

By    |   Monday, 02 September 2024 08:33 PM EDT

Minnesota Gov. and Democratic candidate for Vice President Tim Walz stirred controversy at Milwaukee's Laborfest, allegedly accusing former President Trump of supporting "forced child labor" under "Project 2025," intensifying political tensions on Labor Day.

During the Labor Day gathering, Walz seemed to level a serious accusation against Trump, claiming he endorsed child labor policies as part of an agenda called "Project 2025."

"Tim Walz just claimed that President Trump wants forced child labor. Interesting choice of mud to be throwing since Kamala [Harris] is VP of an administration that lost 325K illegal migrant children to human traffickers at the border." Greg Price posted on X.

The allegation came as Walz addressed union members at Laborfest, marking his inaugural visit to Wisconsin since his vice-presidential nomination by the Democrats, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Previously responding to the claims of his alignment with Project 2025, Trump vehemently denied any knowledge or involvement in a post on Truth Social, stating, "I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it." "I have not seen it, have no idea who is in charge of it, and, unlike our very well-received Republican Platform, had nothing to do with it," NBC News reported.

As pointed out by Price, further controversy surrounds the Biden-Harris administration, under which over 320,000 migrant children reportedly crossed the border unaccompanied and were released to sponsors in the U.S., according to the New York Post.

The report from the Homeland Security Inspector General highlighted that many of these children, now absent from federal oversight under the Biden-Harris administration, are the ones potentially vulnerable to sex trafficking and forced labor.
