Keynote speakers at the Democratic National Convention talked a lot about defeating President Donald Trump Wednesday night, but didn't offer much about Democratic Party nominee Joe Biden, Sen. Tom Cotton said Thursday.
"I heard a lot of reasons why Donald Trump offends the delicate elite sensibilities of people like Barack Obama and Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton," the Arkansas Republican said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "I don't think I heard many or even any reasons to vote for Joe Biden. I mean, I understand that Donald Trump is living rent-free inside the heads of all these Democrats having beaten them in 2016 but, ultimately, the Democrats have to explain why America would be better off with Joe Biden as our president."
However, Cotton said, Democrats don't want to promote Biden because of his plans for office.
"Joe Biden is going to raise our taxes by $4 trillion," he said. "He is going to open our borders by decriminalizing illegal immigration. He is going to give free healthcare that you have to pay for to illegal immigrants while he takes away your insurance on the job, free college, too."
Cotton also urged people to watch the convention's daytime speakers "when they tell you what they actually think."
Democrats also don't want to talk about the violence that is being seen in Chicago and New York for fear that they will "offend the left wing of the base," said Cotton.
The senator also talked about Trump's call to restore previously suspended United Nations sanctions on Iran, which he said will mean that the country will not be able to get the military equipment to attack U.S. troops and Middle East allies.
He added that the call is a reminder of how bad the Iran deal was.
"I said at the time that some of these deadlines are the blink of an eye in the life of a nation," said Cotton. "The conventional weapons ban expires in just two months. Restore that weapons ban to make sure Iran cannot import the world's deadliest weapons."
