Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., is trying to have it both ways on the non-crisis and now crisis on the border, according to former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Direct Tom Homan, who says Schumer who has done nothing to address it.
"Now, Chuck Schumer, let's remember, he said this is a manufactured crisis," Homan told Fox News' "America News HQ." "He said that numerous times. So, he has ignored this crisis right to the very end. Again, he went down there. He vilified the men and women of Border Patrol, but what ideas did he come to the table with?"
Homan added when you put 500 people in a facility intended for 100, "the care is going to be affected" and the resulting crisis could have been averted if Sen. Schumer had acted to change immigration and asylum laws and closed the loopholes – when he was asked to in the first place.
"It's Congress fault," Homan said. "I mean, name one thing that Chuck Schumer has done to solve this crisis or address the crisis, other than vilifying the men and women of the Border Patrol. The head of the Border Patrol and the secretary has asked for months for more money. They gave them a warning that it's beyond the breaking point. Facilities are overcrowded."
Homan has been a staunch defender of President Donald Trump's attention to the border and migration crisis and was verbally attacked by Democrats during a House hearing earlier this month.
