President Donald Trump received a 35-57 negative job approval rating in the latest Quinnipiac University national poll.
Trump's numbers are below former President Barack Obama's worst approval rating of 38-57, which was recorded in 2013, according to the poll.
Here are the survey highlights:
- Thirty-four percent say Trump is honest, while 61 percent disagree.
- Forty percent say he has good leadership skills, compared to 55 percent who disagree.
- Twenty-nine percent say Trump is level head, while 66 percent say he is not.
- Sixty-four percent believe he is a strong person, while 33 percent disagree.
- Sixty percent say he is intelligent, while 35 percent say he is not.
- Thirty-four percent say he is doing more to united the country as president, while 61 percent say he is doing more to divide the nation.
- Twenty-seven percent say they feel proud to have him as president, while 52 percent say they are embarrassed.
"President Donald Trump continues to struggle, even among his most loyal supporters, said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. "Many of them would be hard pressed to see even a sliver of a silver lining in this troubling downward spiral,"
Here is how the rest of the poll breaks down:
- Twenty-one percent approve of the way the Republicans in Congress are handling their jobs, while 70 percent disapprove.
- Thirty-four percent approve of the way Democrats in Congress are handling their jobs, compared to 57 percent who disapprove.
- Twenty-eight percent have a favorable view of House Speaker Paul Ryan, while 52 percent have an unfavorable opinion of him.
Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,171 voters nationwide from March 30-April 3. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
