President Donald Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee have reportedly suspended face-to-face fundraising events, but will continue digital money-raising efforts.

The campaign and the RNC have signaled in-person events are done now that the coronavirus has spread to all 50 states and Washington, D.C., CNBC reported Friday, citing unnamed sources.

CBS News confirmed the move.

“President Trump and the RNC have the strongest fundraising operation in presidential history and our unmatched data and digital operation make us uniquely equipped to sustain a digital fundraising operation. As it is, we are in an incredibly strong position,” Tim Murtaugh, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, told CNBC.

“While we are temporarily suspending in-person fundraising events, we will still be able to gather support from Americans who fully support President Trump, his accomplishments, and his leadership.”

Mandi Merritt, a spokeswoman for the RNC, told CNBC the committee will also be using direct mail to stay connected with donors.

Trump, the RNC and their joint fundraising committees combined to raise over $86 million in February and have over $225 million on hand, the news outlet reported.
