Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump fired back at NBC News reporter Katy Tur Wednesday after she quoted unnamed sources in a series of tweets as saying the mood in his campaign was dark following his performance in Monday's debate with Democrat Hillary Clinton.
But other sources disputed those claims, saying the mood has "never been better."
Trump himself responded directly to Tur, questioning whether her sources are real, and saying that if they are, they no longer work for him.
"Your sources, if they even exist, are probably sources that have been fired long ago and have no knowledge of what is happening in the campaign," he said. "Hard to be unhappy when we are doing so well."
Tur's tweets come as The New York Times reported that Trump's team is working to get him to prepare better for the second debate, set for October 9.
