Trump: Clinton Raising 'Blood Money' for Campaign

("CBS This Morning")

Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump Wednesday dismissed likely Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton's fundraising lead over him, saying the former secretary of State is bringing in "blood money."

"I don't want to devote the rest of my life to raising money from people," Trump told CBS' Norah O'Donnell for an interview for the "CBS This Morning" program. "All of the money [Clinton] is raising is blood money."

"Every time she raises money, she's making deals," Trump told O'Donnell. "Just saying, 'could I be ambassador to this? Could I do that? Make sure my business is taken care of.' I mean, give me a break . . . I was one of the biggest donors. I gave a lot of money to the party . . . So I understand the system better than anybody."

Further, said Trump, Clinton is getting "tremendous amounts of money from Wall Street. She's going to take care of Wall Street. She's getting tremendous amounts of money from lots of people. She's going to take care of all these people."

According to campaign finance reports released this week, Trump's campaign brought in just over $5.5 million last month, and started this month with $1.3 million. Meanwhile, Clinton had $42 million.

On Tuesday, Clinton warned that a Trump presidency will bring a "Trump recession" to the United States, and Trump ridiculed those statements to O'Donnell.

"We're going to put people back to work again, we're not going to allow countries to steal our businesses," Trump said, telling O'Donnell his plan will "bring back jobs and it'll bring back business.

"Companies now are leaving the United States, corporate inversion . . . We have almost $5 trillion sitting out there where they can't get the money back."

And Clinton, said Trump "doesn't have a clue" as the nation's debt will be "very soon $21 trillion . . . We are sitting on a time bomb and Hillary Clinton doesn't have a clue. And President Obama has pretty much doubled the debt since he's been in office and somebody's going to pay a big price. We have to start chopping that debt down."
