Trump Dumps on Cohen in First Remarks After Plea Deal

Wednesday, 22 August 2018 09:53 AM EDT

President Donald Trump's first public comment on the plea deal struck by his longtime lawyer Michael Cohen came on Twitter Wednesday morning.

"If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you don’t retain the services of Michael Cohen!" Trump's tweet said.

About an hour later, Trump returned to Twitter with a claim about Cohen's plea:

"Michael Cohen plead [sic] guilty to two counts of campaign finance violations that are not a crime. President Obama had a big campaign finance violation and it was easily settled!" Trump's tweet said.
