Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump has lashed out at criticism from UK leaders, insisting his relationship with both British Prime Minster David Cameron and London Mayor Sadiq Khan could be affected by their statements.
When asked by ITV's "Good Morning Britain" about the prime minister calling Trump's idea to bar all Muslims from the United States "divisive, stupid and wrong," the real estate mogul said "it looks like we're not going to have a very good relationship."
But Trump added that he hoped there would be good ties with Cameron.
Trump did, however, push back against the insults saying, "Number one, I'm not stupid, OK? I can tell you that right now — just the opposite. Number two, in terms of divisive, I don't think I'm a divisive person. I'm a unifier, unlike our president now. I'm a unifier."
Trump also reacted to Khan's comments that his views on Islam were "ignorant," saying the mayor's statements were "very rude" and to "tell him I will remember those statements."
Other foreign leaders have also been harsh in their language criticizing Trump.
According to
NBC News, just last week, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, arriving in London to visit Khan, declared that Trump is "so stupid, my God."
In February, former Mexican President Vicente Fox responded to Trump's call to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexican border by calling the billionaire developer a "hated gringo," "ugly American," reports
The Huffington Post. Adding: "I'm not going to pay for that [expletive] wall."
Current Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has compared Trump's rhetoric to the way Mussolini and Hitler rose to power.
