President Donald Trump on Thursday complained on Twitter that the "fake news media is going crazy" in its Russia-Putin narrative, adding that it wants to see a "major confrontation with Russia" instead of diplomacy.
It's unclear which stories specifically the president believes are "total fiction," save for all of them, but he's been under the gun from all sides - including Fox News - over his remarks in Helsinki that ostensibly absolved Russian president Vladimir Putin from interfering in the 2016 elections.
It's the president who's twice had to wriggle out of remarks that he's made this week.
First it was the "would" vs. " wouldn't" fiasco in Helsinki, then on Wednesday it was the "no" heard 'round the world as to whether Russia was still meddling that the White House clarified was aimed at answering questions.
"He was saying no, he's not taking questions," Sarah Sanders said during a press briefing hours later.
He returned to the subject later, noting that he looks forward to another meeting with Putin.
