Jason Miller, a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump's 2020 campaign tweeted on Saturday that a Gab account with a blue checkmark attributed to Trump is a "fake account."

Newsmax reported Friday that Trump had returned to social media for the first time since he was banned from Twitter and Facebook last month, posting a letter from his attorney to House impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., on his Gab account.

The posting Thursday night appeared to be a response to Raskin’s letter requesting Trump appear and testify at the scheduled Senate impeachment trial scheduled to begin on Jan. 9.

The entire post was an image of the terse three-sentence note from attorney David Schoen, which mocked Raskin and the trial.

"We are in receipt of your latest public relations stunt,'' the letter begins. ''As you certainly know, there is no such thing as a negative inference in this unconstitutional proceeding.

''Your letter only confirms what is known to everyone: you cannot prove your allegations against 45th President of the United States, who is now a private citizen.

''The use of our Constitution to bring a purported impeachment proceeding is much too serious to try to play these games.''

Trump was barred from Twitter and Facebook following the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol in Washington. The companies claimed it was to ''due to the risk of further incitement of violence.''

His Gab account, which last showed a post from Jan. 8 when he announced he would not attend the inauguration, has only 1.4 million followers, a fraction of his following on the much larger platforms Twitter and Facebook. Gab, which also was blamed by critics for aiding in the Jan. 6 disturbance at the Capitol, has about 3.4 million users.
