President Donald Trump slammed Democrats again on Monday, this time for being "powerless" against their "far left base" in the shutdown fight.
Trump followed up later by retweeting his Sunday message urging Republicans to use the "nuclear option" to end "Democrats obstruction."
The Senate has a vote scheduled at noon Monday to end debate on a stopgap bill on Day 3 of the government shutdown, but Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says Democrats and Republicans have yet to reach an agreement on the impasse.
Democrats continue to hold out for protections for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients in exchange for their votes to get to 60 to pass another continuing resolution to fund the government.
At least nine Democrats are needed for passage.
However, five Senate Republicans also voted against the stopgap bill late Friday night, offsetting the five Democrats who voted for passage.
