An immigration reform advocacy group, Fwd.us, which is backed by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, is not only taking a shot at presidential front-runner Donald Trump, but will spend as much as $10 million on advertisements and research aimed at getting an immigration reform package passed in 2017,
The Hill reports.
In many different interviews, Trump has sternly stated his stance on immigration: to deport all immigrants who are in the country without authorization.
And, according to a Republican official with the group, Trump's stance on the issue, along with that of other GOP candidates, raises great concern for the immigration reform advocacy group.
"From a policy situation if we nominate any of those people we are going to lose," Fwd.us campaign manager Rob Jesmer, a veteran GOP operative,
told Politico. "No two ways about it."
According to Politico, the group's polling found that the majority of voters would prefer a candidate who does not support the kind of mass deportation that Trump has continuously and passionately proposed.
The group is also funded by other big time names from Silicon Valley. The Hill notes that the group has previously been criticized by members on the left after it ran ads boasting of the conservative bona fides of lawmakers who backed immigration reform.
