President Donald Trump blasted Democrats and said they will "do anything to avoid" his Senate impeachment trial just to "protect" former Vice President Joe Biden.
His comments came Tuesday in a tweet. He wrote: "The Democrats will do anything to avoid a trial in the Senate in order to protect Sleepy Joe Biden, and expose the millions and millions of dollars that 'Where's' Hunter, & possibly Joe, were paid by companies and countries for doing NOTHING. Joe wants no part of this mess!"
The Washington Post noted it remains unclear when Trump's Senate trial will be scheduled. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has not yet forwarded the two articles of impeachment against Trump to the Senate.
Trump has continually raised questions about the Bidens' involvement in Ukraine.
Records suggest that the former vice president's son Hunter was paid large sums of money while serving on the board of a Ukrainian energy company. However, the Post noted, no evidence of any wrongdoing has emerged.
And the newspaper pointed out that Democrats have said the Bidens' involvement in Ukraine is not relevant to the question of whether the president abused his power.
