The White House will release a document showing the inspector general learned that the whistleblower who complained about President Donald Trump's conversation with the leader of Ukraine had "political bias" in favor of another presidential candidate, Fox News is reporting.
The news network attributed the information to a senior Trump administration official, who did not identify the name of the rival candidate.
Separately, a senior administration official told Fox News the White House has been moving quickly to release the whistleblower's complaint to Congress. The complaint centers on Trump's conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump has vowed to release a transcript of his phone call with Zelensky.
A senior official said there are a "few words" in the transcript that will raise eyebrows. However, the source said it is nowhere near as inflammatory as some have suggested.
Some Democrats have suggested the president improperly threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine unless it investigated former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
But Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani is claiming it is the Democrats who may have a big problem.
Giuliani tweeted early Wednesday morning: "Democrat party is covering up a pattern of corruption involving high level members of the Obama cabinet. The multi-million and billion dollar pay-for-play is mind boggling. Biden Family sale of office to Ukraine was not the only one or the most egregious. Slimy Joe is not alone."
